Rolls-Royce has signed a $700m deal to provide Trent 700 engines and long-term TotalCare support for five new Beluga XL cargo aircraft.
The aircraft was launched in November 2014 and will replace the current Beluga fleet.
Bertrand George, Airbus senior vice-president, head of Beluga XL programmes, said the decision to select the Trent 700 was based on the engine’s track record for powering the A330 which made it “ideally suited” for the aircraft.
